You may have seen the news from the MHSAA yesterday. Many of us are interested in getting back to a normal sports season. While this fall sports will not be normal, we are at least heading that direction. The MHSAA is doing all they can to have all the fall sports; that being said they are treating each sport separately.
One thing that will be a reality is limitations on spectators. This will not be ideal and Hart will make the best of what we are allowed to do. Currently, there are not specifics on what those limitations will be for the fall. We will keep you updated as more information is made available.
A note on enrollment eligibility. Participation in Athletics at Hart is based partly on enrollment. As Mr. Platt has communicated, families will have an option of coming to school or doing a Hart managed online program. Both of those options would make you enrolled at Hart and meet the enrollment eligibility for Athletics. So a student in the Hart managed online program would be potentially eligible. But a student being home schooled with a different program would not be eligible.
Here is the current status of each fall sport:
Cross Country: Practice starts on August 12th and competitions on August 21st. There are limitations on size of meets, but the season will precede relatively normal.
Boys soccer: Practice starts on August 12th and competitions start will be decided on by MHSAA.
Volleyball: Practice starts on August 12th (pending approval to use indoor facilities) and competitions start will be decided on by MHSAA.
Football: Modified practice starts August 10th (helmets only for the first week) and competitions start will be decided on by MHSAA.
Sideline Cheer: Start practice on August 12th, cheering based on Football schedule.
The MHSAA has said they will make determinations on competition start for Soccer, Volleyball, and Football by August 20th.
