Women’s Varsity Soccer · Hart Women’s Soccer team suffers tough season opener

The Women’s Varsity Soccer team opened their season today at home against Manistee in a 8-0 loss. Maricruz Andaverde and Peyton Hansen shared time in net. Mari had 5 saves on the night from a total of 13 shots on goal, with 8 goals allowed. The young Pirate team hung on for 8 minutes into the second half before Manistee scored their 8th goal to complete the mercy.
This years Pirates squad has 3 freshmen in the starting lineup, a 4 sophomores and 4 juniors.
The only full time Varsity returning player from 2 years ago is Isabel Morales, she is also one of the two seniors on the squad.
This games Women of the match were Junior, Yamille Zarraga for always being in the right places and hustling back on defense; and Freshmen Sydney Goodrich. Sydney put in tremendous effort and was turning up all over the field to defend and help the team transition up the field.
The Pirates next game is Tuesday the 13th at Shelby High school.
