The Pirates came out and scored 13 points in the first quarter which left them with a 4 point advantage. Evart put together a 20 point second quarter to take a 6 point lead at the half. In the second half Evart built a 14 point lead but hart battled through it. With under 3 minutes left, Hart took the lead and grew it to 4 points with the ball under 2. Costly turnovers and free throw shooting hurt the Pirates as they went 3-11 from the line in the 4th quarter.
The Pirates had their chances but in the overtime fell short, losing 59-63. Leading the Pirates in scoring was Hunter Tubbs with 11, Kody Charron with 10 and Zach Bitely and Parker Hovey with 8 points each. Leading rebounders were Parker Hovey with 9, Kellen Kimes with 6 and Kody Charron with 6.
The Pirates end their season with an opening loss in districts but it wasn’t for lack of effort. The boys put together the most complete game they have played all season and should be proud of the effort they left on the court.
