In a tight battle it was the defense and a freshman that propelled the Pirates to victory. Early in the game the Pirates struggled to get the offense going and shot poorly from the charity strip going 4-12 in the first half.
Senior Nicole Rockwell carried the scoring early getting 5 in the first quarter, giving Hart a 8-7 advantage.
In the second quarter Evart took a 20-12 lead, however Hart got 3 steals and layups in the final 2 minutes of the quarter to pull within 2.
Hart continued the run scoring the first 4 of the third quarter and pulled ahead 22-20. The key clog in the second half was freshman Aspen Boutell. Aspen was asked to take over point guard duty in attempt to free up space for Jayd Hovey. Aspen answered the call scoring 13 points in the half including going 5-7 from the FT in the 4th quarter.
Another major factor was the Pirates press which was able to get some steals early in the 4th quarter which led to 3 easy layup and gave Hart a 8 point lead which prove to much for Evart to come back from.
Aspen Boutell led Hart with 14 points while adding 5 steals. Jayd Hovey had 12 points 5 steals and 4 assist. Nicole Rockwell added 10 points and 5 rebounds. Rylee Noggle adds 8 points and 10 rebounds.
